ISO 14001
ISO 14001 establishes requirements for implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an Environmental Management System (EMS), focused on managing environmental aspects, fulfilling compliance obligations, and improving environmental performance.
Explore the structure of the management system standard here.
Phases
Phase 1: Scope Definition
Define the EMS scope, including organizational boundaries, activities, products and services, and environmental interactions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and interested party expectations.
Phase 2: Gap Assessment and Governance
Conduct a gap assessment against ISO 14001 requirements to establish the EMS implementation plan. Establish governance, including roles, responsibilities, leadership commitment, and environmental policy and objectives.
Phase 3: Risk Assessment and Treatment
Identify environmental aspects and impacts, evaluate risks and opportunities, and determine compliance obligations to ensure effective environmental management and risk control.
Phase 4: Process Establishment and Documentation
Establish and document EMS processes, including operational controls, environmental objectives, monitoring activities, and documented information required to ensure effective implementation.
Phase 5: Operations and Performance Evaluation
Operate the EMS, monitor environmental performance, evaluate compliance obligations, conduct internal audits and management reviews, and ensure personnel competence and awareness.
Phase 6: Certification Audit (Stage 1 and Stage 2)
Prepare for and support the certification audit, including Stage 1 (documentation and readiness review) and Stage 2 (implementation and effectiveness assessment), ensuring all requirements are met and objective evidence is available.
Phase 7: Certification and Continual Improvement
Address audit findings, support certification decision activities, and ensure continual improvement of the EMS to maintain certification and support surveillance audits.
Note: The defined phases are subject to adjustment based on the existence, current state, and maturity of the management system aligned with ISO 14001 requirements.
In addition, we provide ongoing support on a quarterly, biannual, or annual basis to maintain the management system in line with ISO 14001, ensuring continued conformity and successful surveillance or recertification assessments, as applicable.
